Since enlisting in the Massachusetts Air National Guard Band in 1993, Adam Porter graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a B. A. in Music Performance.  With his graduation behind him, Adam has enjoyed an extensive career of teaching and performing.

As a clinician at various colleges and high schools throughout the US, Adam has worked with some of the most talented young musicians in the country.  While being an active private teacher, Adam’s performing career has carried him to great cities throughout the world such as: Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Santiago, Chile, Osaka, Japan, and Bangkok, Thailand.

As a member of the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast, SSgt Porter is principal Tubist in the concert band and NCIOC of the Northeast Brass Quintet.Adam is also Principal Tubist of the Thayer Symphony Orchestra in Fitchburg, MA.

Continuing the drive to promote literature for the Tuba as a solo instrument, Adam has commissioned two works to add to its repertoire, a Solo Tuba and a Tuba and Piano piece.  Sonate for Tuba and Piano was composed by Major M. Donovan Ret. of The Air National Guard Band of the Northeast.  Transformations for Solo Tuba was composed by the acclaimed composer Robert Bradshaw.  Adam has had the opportunity to give the world premier of the Sonate for Tuba and Piano in Plymouth, MA, USA in April of 2000.
